Ludhiana, January 07, 2015 (Rajinder Ahuja): The district administration is all set to host NRI Sangat Darshan in the city on January 17. This NRI Sangat Darshan would host NRI's from districts Ludhiana, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawa Shehar), Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Sangrur, Ropar and Ajitgarh (Mohali).

The NRI Sangat Darshan programmes are being organised by the Punjab government for connecting with the Punjabi Diaspora settled abroad and redressing their grievances. While holding a review meeting of the NRI Sangat Darshan, Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal said the main aim of this Sangat Darshan is to make direct interface with the NRI's to solve their problems on the spot in the presence of the government top brass.

Patiala, January 03, 2015 (Neel Kamal Sonu): PSPCL has been chosen as “Best Performing Utility in Power Sector” by Central Board of Irrigation and Power. The award was presented to Er. K.D. Chaudhri by Prof. Sanwar Lal Jat, Minister of State, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India in the presence of Uma Bharti, Union Minister in New Delhi.

A jury of eminent personalities such as A.B. Pandya, Chairman, Central Water Commission, A.S. Bakshi, Member, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, Major Singh, Member Planning, Central Electricity Authority, Tarun Kapoor, Joint Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, K.S. Popli, CMD, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited, Ashok Sethi, Executive Director, Tata Power Co. Ltd. and Avinash Tyagi, Secretary General, International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage was constituted to select the best power utility.

Taking the administrative reforms a step forward, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal asserted that by July 2015 more than 249 citizen centric services would be provided online through 2,174 Sewa Kendras being set up in villages and towns and the residents need not have to visit any government office. Stating Punjab would be the first state in the country implementing online services Badal assured that administrative reforms would be completed within next two years to provide hassle free services to the citizens.

While speaking to media persons after the function of Muslim community held here today Badal said that state has achieved status of having sufficient power and after sorting out coal problem Punjab will be the power surplus state in next year.

We are duty bound to carry forward those ties and our social cohesion is rock solid," he said while speaking to media persons here today.
