Amritsar, May 13, 2015 (Munish Sharma): The two-day “International Conference on Communication, Information and Computing Technology-ICCICT-2015)” concluded at Global Institutes Amritsar with the presentation of as many as 260 papers by research scholars from several Technical Institutes and Universities from the country and abroad.

The Conference sponsored by Punjab Technical University was organized to mark “World Informatics Society Day” falling on May 17. Keynote speakers Dr. Deepak Garg (Professor, Dept of Computer Science, Thapar University Patiala) and Dr. D. Dinakar from NIT Warangal opened the conference in the presence of Vice Chairman, Global Institutes Dr Aakashdeep Singh. Dr Dinakar set the ball rolling for the conference with an intensely debated issue of ‘Modulated Fiber Optic Loop vibration Measurement’.

Jagmeet Singh Randhawa and Simrandeep Singh from University Of Ottawa, Canada jointly opened the final session with the latest concept in India which on the threshold of making smart cities, with a presentation of paper “Smart Cities- Security and Privacy’.

New ideas, concepts and theories on various cutting edge technology Markers on ‘Innovative learning, detecting diabetes in eye, routing, data warehouse, finding target customers, security tools, tools for energy conservation, clustering, cloud computing, filters for human identification, Intelligent Public Transport System for Smart City, Testing for mobile apps were presented.

Besides Techniques on Software storage, digital video watermarking, fiber optic communication, computer forensic relating to assessment of windows in computers, detection systems for internet banking were some of the interesting topics.

A team of Pune with Amol Nirmal, Atul Narote, Mahesh Londhe, Sandip Vandre presented ‘Wireless Health care system’ which is the trendiest concept in terms of providing health services to remotest areas.

Maninderpal Singh and Er. Varun Sanduja of Chandigarh Group of Colleges Technical Campus, Jhanjeri presented ‘Minimizing Electricity Theft’ through computer tracking while Gaurav Saini and Jagbir Singh Gill from Mohali concentrated on active Bug finding. Miss. S.B. More and Prof. N. D Pergad from Osmanabad looked at medical uses of computerization to find a methodology for detecting diabetic presence from Iris Image.

The Technical Sessions were arranged at four different venues simultaneously. Eight sessions were held on each day. Dr. D Dinakar (Professor, National Institute of Technology Warangal) chaired the first technical session of 10 presentations. The other scholars who chaired different sessions included Dr. Major Singh (Professor, SLIET, Longowal), Dr. Harpreet Kaur (Professor SR Govt College Amritsar), Dr. Kuljit Kaur (Professor, GNDU Amritsar), Dr. Sandeep Singh Kang (Professor GIMET Amritsar), Dr. Shalini Bahel (Professor, GNDU Amritsar), Prof. D.S. Bhambra (Professor GIMET Amritsar) and Dr. Gagandeep Jagdev (Professor Guru Kashi University Talwandi Sabo).

Papers on contemporary research areas like Data Mining, Big Data, Mobile and Pervasive Computing, Cloud Computing, Genetic Algorithms were discussed followed by question answer sessions.

Earlier, the Vice-Chairman Dr. Akashdeep Singh welcomed scholars at the Global Campus. He dwelled on the constructive role of research in Academics and Industry and its urgent need to pursue it for the slogan "Make in India" to turn to reality. He observed that Innovation and creativity given a free rein leads to advanacement in a nation to compete in the world order.

The participating scholars were from Delhi, Gurdaspur, Mohali, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Pune, Jabalpur, Odisha, Rajasthan, Andhra pardesh, Kerala, Kurkshetra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Osmanabad, Guntar, Mumbai, Bharuch, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Patiala.
