Students participate in Inter School IT Fest 2015 at Delhi Public School in Amritsar

Amritsar, May 09, 2015 (Munish Sharma): Focusing on the application skills and computer knowledge of students, Delhi Public School Amritsar organized Inter School IT-Fest ‘Techno fun 2015’ at its Premises to mark the ‘World Information Society Day’ that falls on May 17.

Hosts DPS lifted the overall trophy at the IT Fest bagging four positions, out of which three were top titles and one runners-up in the competitions that tested IT skills among students.

As many as 11 schools of the district participated in the festival, where Debates, Graphics and Animation, Cyber Quiz, programming, Presentation tool and Digital imaging were showcased besides which workshops were held.

DPS won the Computer quiz, where questions were based on latest and history of IT, while Cambridge International School stood second.

The hosts also bagged the Programming Competition called ‘Code strom’ where students created different codes and displayed their programming skills, while Bhavans SL Public School took the second position in the competition.

Cambridge International School won the ‘e-collage’ competition which required skills in creating a collage using photo editing software techniques while hosts DPS stood second.  The hosts hotly debated on the latest topic of ‘Is Cloud Computing safe for personal data’ and won the top prize while Cambridge International School came a close second. Along with the competitions two informative workshops were conducted including one on Android Application Development and another on creating Robots.

Schools including GD Goenka Public School, DAV International, Sri Harkrishan Public School GT Road, Modern High School, Bhavans SL Public School, St Soldier Elite Convent School, Sri Harkrishen Public School Taran Taran, Ajanta Public School, Khalsa College Public School and others became part of the festival to learn to go beyond the text books and get informed about new tools of technology.

The chief guest of the occasion Deepti Malhotra HoD Computer Science Department, Amritsar College of Engineering, while appreciating the move said, “The world is a huge gymnasium where we have come to improve and strengthen ourselves and technology is the newest too.”

DPS Principal Sangeeta Singh in her address said, “The competitions in IT were aimed to unleash the creativity of children and also enhance their learning skills in communicating information more dynamically.
