Madurai, December 13, 2014 (Online News India): Minister for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman has called upon the Institute of Chartered accountants of India (ICAI) to act as a catalyst in evolving transparent processes and ensuring accountability. She commended the role played by the ICAI in bringing about various changes in the provisions of the Companies Act. Minister was speaking at the 46th Regional Conference of the ICAI in Madurai.

The minister also asked the ICAI to interact with the government which is understanding and responsive to the demands of various sections of the society, industry and professionals. She pointed out that this is “the right government to deal with.”

The minister said that the ICAI must also think of upholding quality while at the same time taking care of the numbers too. She pointed out that the demand for chartered accountants is felt in every facet of the industry, be it venture capitals, companies or manufacturing units.

New Delhi, December 04, 2014 (Online News India): Air India signed a MoU with National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd. (NBCC) here today for monetization of surplus land assets of the national carrier. It will be a non-binding, non-exclusive agreement and each land asset will be individually evaluated for a particular mode of monetization process. This MoU is intended to blend together NBCC’s huge expertise in successful completion of several prestigious projects and Air India’s vast surplus land assets.

New Delhi, December 02, 2014 (Online News India): The Union Minister of Women and Child Development Maneka Sanjay Gandhi has emphasized that 33 percent of police force in every Police Station should be women to establish a system of automatic sensitization towards crimes against women. The Minister said that having ‘all women’s police stations’ further leads to the problem of segregation. She was speaking at a roundtable conference on ‘Gender Violence and Access to Justice Assessment, Analysis and Policy’ in New Delhi today.

Highlighting the need for setting up one-stop crises centres for female victims of violence Maneka Gandhi said that the Women’s Helpline cannot be completely effective till there is a one stop solution for women affected by violence especially rape. Such a solution will be provided at these crises centres which the Ministry proposes to set up and will be manned by nurses, psychologists, social workers, police among others.

The Bal Swachhta Mission is a part of the nationwide sanitation initiative of Swachh Bharat Mission launched by the Prime Minister on 2nd October, 2014.

Speaking at the launch of Bal Swachhta Mission Maneka Sanjay Gandhi said that children can play a very important role in achieving a Swachh Bharat. She said that they can become ambassadors of cleanliness and motivate others to keep their homes, schools and surroundings clean. Cleanliness habits should be imbibed in the children in informal ways like small games, poems, storytelling and conversation with children among others, she added.

Varanasi, November 08, 2014 (News Team): Prime Minister Narendra Modi participating in Shramdaan as part of Swachhta Abhiyaan at Assi Ghat in VaranasiPrime Minister Narendra Modi today initiated the drive towards a clean Ganga as he participated in shramdaan to remove dirt on the banks of the River Ganga at Assi Ghat in Varanasi.

Prime Minister later nominated nine eminent persons to carry forward the task. Prime Minister has nominated cricketer Suresh Raina, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, cricketer Mohammad Kaif, comedian Raju Srivastava, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, singer Kailash Kher, Manu Sharma, Padma Shri Devi Parsad Dwivedi and Swami Rambhadracharya. He said social organizations in Varanasi have assured him that the work of cleaning the Ghats in the city shall be completed in one month.
