Photo by Black StudioThe Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat flagged off a new campaign initiated by AlphaOne and Swami Vivekananda Hospital to combat drug abuse in Amritsar with Say No to Drugs initiative. This important campaign was flagged off on Children’s Day on November 14, 2014 in Maqbool Pura, Amritsar in the presence of dignitaries and officials who encouraged this drive towards a healthy and prosperous Amritsar. A team of doctors also held counseling sessions for drugs awareness program at AlphaOne.

According to DC, “We thank AlphaOne and Swami Vivekananda Hospital for taking up such a noble initiative to create awareness about the dreaded drug habit.

Drug abuse is becoming increasingly prevalent in Amritsar and Maqbool Pura is a vastly drug infested village. We would like to request other corporate also to come forward for taking such initiative as well as to provide some kind of employment opportunities to the treated persons, once they obtain their fitness for work certificate from the Doctors. The administration will also support this initiative to raise awareness about the importance of good health and fitness among residents. A dispensary has already been initiated at Maqbool Pura area in association with Pulse Hospital and Doctors from Vivekananda Hospital will visit this clinic daily to extend treatments, counseling and free medicines.”

The dignitaries supporting the CSR initiative on November 14th were Chief Guest Ravi Bhagat Deputy Commissioner, Dr. PD Garg HOD Vivekananda Hospital, DDTC Santokh Singh Principal Govt. Medical College, Dr. Sujata Sharma Medical Superintendent, GNDU, Dr. BL Goyal, Director Mental Hospital, Dr. Inderjit Kaur Head Pingalwara, Master Ajit Singh Social Worker Maqbool Pura, besides eminent members of NGOs like YGPT Sukh Amrit, Mission Agaaz, Voice of Amritsar, All India Women’s Conference, Abhivyakti Foundation, Nehru Yuva Kendra and Red Cross as well as the media and host members of Let’s Make Amritsar Sparkling Be The Change Club.

Dr. Prodipta Sen, Executive Director Alpha thanked the Deputy Commissioner, Doctors of Swami Vivekananda Hospital, dignitaries, media and guests for their presence, “This is one more step in our ongoing civic and social initiatives, ‘Amritsar Sparkling’ and ‘Be The Change’. AlphaOne has partnered Swami Vivekananda Hospital in launching a mobile ambulance that will go to identified areas of Maqbool Pura where temporary camps will be organized on an ongoing basis. Following this activity, Vivekananda Hospital and AlphaOne will regularly organize awareness drives to educate residents about the medical facilities, treatments, mobile vans, ambulances and counseling available to them on a constant basis in their area. We feel proud of every contribution we make in fostering a healthy society. We will continue our interactions with the people of Amritsar and open many other vistas for them in wholesome activities like this.”

To further augment the Children’s Day weekend AlphaOne is organizing several fun filled competitions for children to encourage and boost their unique talents in Singing and Modeling, Drawing and Poster Making as well as Sports competitions from November 14th to 16th. The invitations for the activities were sent to various schools and were received very enthusiastically by the respective principals. The Singing and Modelling competition on November 14th will start at 3.30 PM, Drawing and Poster Making competition on November 15th will start at 3.30 PM and Sports competition on November 16th from 11 AM. November 15th a Painting Competition with ‘SAY NO TO DRUGS’ theme will be organized at AlphaOne. The winners will be selected by Mr. Brajesh Jolly, Director KT Kala and the winning paintings will be displayed at Vivekananda Hospital’s meditation room. Alongside, there will be several MC led activities especially for children including, games, quizzes and interactions with many gifts and prizes.
