Mumbai, July 16, 2015 (News Team): One of the most loved shows of all times "Everybody Loves Raymond" is soon coming to India. Star Plus officially acquired the rights to the adaptation of this globally acclaimed show, bringing the Indian Entertainment Industry one step closer to Hollywood. The hugely popular show that has already been successfully adapted in many countries like Russia, Israel, Poland, Egypt is banking on the universally relatable concept to establish a connect with the Indian audience. With many speculations doing the round, the hunt for India’s very own Raymond began.

After auditioning many known faces, the makers of the show saw a spark in actor Namit Das and called him for a few look tests and audition. However, that was just the first stage of selection as even for the Indian adaptation of the show, titled "Sumit Sambhal Lega" the original makers, including writer Steve Skrovan have been looped in to overlook the creative process and maintain the look and feel of the show.

The idea behind involving the original makers is to ensure that the nature and DNA of the original series remains intact. Namit’s audition tape was sent to a special team in Hollywood and only after it was screened at different levels, was he locked down for the character of Desi Raymond "Sumit". Steve himself gave his personal inputs for zeroing down Namit as the protagonist.

Namit shared, “I still have no idea what I did right to get this show, but I am so glad I got it! Working with Steve and the rest of the team is an amazing experience. The show is a classic cult and it is true everybody does indeed love Raymond! I’m looking forward to play the Desi Raymond and hope that the Indian audience ends up loving Sumit as well.”
