Ludhiana, December 01, 2014 (Neel Kamal Sonu): Akshit Chandel student of class XII Non-Medical of Spring Dale Sr. Sec. Public School has been selected to play National Level Taekwondo Championship to be held in Bengaluru. He won a Gold Medal in 45-48 category weight in the Junior Punjab State Taekwondo Championship organized by Taekwondo Federation of India at Guru Nanak Stadium and qualified for Nationals. The competition was a tough fight and Akshit won laurels to the State, City and his School by winning Gold. Asian Games 2014 Taekwondo Player Shiv Kumar awarded trophy to Akshit.

The Managing Director of the School Avinash Kaur Walia was elated with the winning news and congratulated Akshit for this achievement. She motivated other students also to take inspiration from him and make sports a necessary part of their daily routine as a healthy mind resides in a healthy body.

Ludhiana, November 29, 2014 (Neel Kamal Sonu): Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College conducted an alumni meet today. The alumni meet started with a warm welcome of the alumni by the Director Dr M.S Saini, following which the alumni shared their experiences and changes going within the companies and industries, how they should mold themselves into a homunculus to face the challenges around.

The 1963 batch funded the college with 10 lakh rupees and the same amount will be provided by the college to fund R and D projects done in the college.

The students from SUPRA, BAJA and EFFICYCLE Teams displayed their vehicles and the alumni were rejoiced with the technical skills and acumen possessed by the students and support from the Mechanical Department was described ineffable.

Talwandi Sabo, November 29, 2014 (Neel Kamal Sonu): 5th semester students of University College of Physical Education of Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo as a part of their course curriculum organized Project Athletic Meet in the Campus. Registrar Satish Goswami inaugurated this meet along with other officers of the University.

Olympian Dr. Tarlok Singh Sandhu presently Director Sports at Guru Kashi University delivered welcome address. On the basis of overall performance in various track and field events Gursharan Singh and Veerpal Kaur both from 3rd semester were declared Best Players.

Ludhiana, November 28, 2014 (Neel Kamal Sonu): Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal today visited the premises of School for Meritorious Students in Civil Lines in Ludhiana and interacted with the students. He even shared his experiences with the students. During his visit to the school Deputy Commissioner urged the students to have complete faith in themselves and said that the students should contribute their bit for doing something for the betterment of the society. He also inquired from the students if they were facing any problem in studies.

Deputy Commissioner during his unscheduled and short visit to the school, checked the attendance register of the teachers and all the teachers were found present in the school.

Having proved their mettle in several shooting competitions in the past, sharpshooters from Spring Dale Senior School again took a shot at sports glory and won medals in individual and team events in the 60th Punjab State Shooting Championship held at Muktsar. Shooters from Spring Dales competed with their counterparts from schools in 10 states to win one gold medal, two silver medals and one bronze medal in the event.

Giving details school Principal Rajiv Kumar Sharma said that Kavya Jain, a member of the school team bagged a gold medal in the individual events in the under-19 girls shooting category, while Harsuhail Singh and Nabarun Singh bagged a silver medal in the team events in the under-17 boy’s category.

Principal of college Mrs. Gurminder Kaur was the Chief Guest. Rohini and Shalini was resource person from International School of Etiquettes. It is Punjab’s first finishing school. Mrs Maninder Kaur, Head Home Science deptt welcomed the chief guest.

While speaking on the occasion Principal appreciated the Home Science deptt for conducting such a nice workshop in the college. She also appreciated the efforts of teachers and students and motivated them to do well in their coming exams.

There was an enthusiastic participation of more than 100 students as every round consisted of different set of students.

There were five rounds in contest, Spell the words, Mental Ability, Rapid Fire Round, Word Building and Memory Round, It was a pleasure watching the wonderful performance of the young and energetic scholars of the school. Director Mrs. P. Kahlon was very happy to see the confidence of the Kids and distributed sweets to them.

Varstiy concluded. Dr. G.S. Wander Chief Cardiologist Hero Heart DMC was Chief Guest on this occasion where Dr. V.K. Taneja presided over the Function. Youth Festival was started on November 4 under the guidance of Dr. Satinder Pal Singh Sangha DSW Cum EO of GADVASU. Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon Vice Chancellor PAU, Dr Kulbir Singh Sandhu member PPSC and Dr Baljeet Singh Gill Associate Dean University of Saskatchewan was guest of honour.

Dr. Darshan Singh Barhi organizing secretary said that there was competition of about 30 events. About 200 students participated in this youth festival.
