Chandigarh, January 12, 2015 (Online News India): As part of 26th Road safety week Government High School, Sector 41A in association with Yuvsatta an NGO organized a Road Safety Programme, involving over 800 students of the School. The programme involved organization of various competitions like Poem recitation, essay writing, slogan writing and poster making on the theme of Road Safety.

Pramod Sharma, Coordinator of Yuvsatta while addressing the students shared that with annually over 1 lac precious lives lost in India in road accidents, the issue of Road Safety should become the most important social issue in the country. In Chandigarh alone every year over 100 people lose their lives in fatal accidents on the roads. It’s high time that all educational institutions should take this challenge that issues of road safety doesn’t remain mere slogans but becomes a way of life.

Ludhiana, January 10, 2015 (Neel Kamal Sonu): Governor of Chattisgarh Balramji Dass Tandon today urged the Chartered Accountants to work for the benefit of society so that they can also contribute their bit in nation building. Tandon was addressing the students of Chartered Accountancy during the National Convention of CA Students hosted by Ludhiana branch of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India at Kundan Vidya Mandir today. Balramji Dass Tandon was the chief guest while Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Rajat Agarwal was the guest of honour.

While speaking on the occasion, Rajat Agarwal who himself is a Chartered Accountant by qualification, shared his personal life experiences with the students. He also said that becoming a CA is tougher than becoming an IAS officer.

Talwandi Sabo, January 09, 2015 (Neel Kamal Sonu): 7 days NSS camp Concluded at Guru Gobind Singh college of Education, Talwandi Sabo. During the closing day ceremony Dr. B.S. Dhaliwal Dean Academic Guru Kashi University was the chief guest. Dr. A.K. Kansal principal welcomed chief guest and other staff and volunteers in this function.

Programme officer Khushpreet Kaur shared that during this 7 days NSS camp students carried out cleanliness campaign in the campus and surrounding areas including Sewa at Takhat Shri Damdam Sahib. They also planted the tree in the campus. Traffic instructor Sukhraj Singh from Punjab police also shared valuable information with students regarding the traffic rules. Mkahn Singh (National Awardee) also delivered valueable information to the volunteers during this camp.

Dr. Kuldeep Singh (Prof. and Head Department of Surgery, AIMSR) was the keynote speaker. Dr. B.S. Dhaliwal, Dean Academics of GKU, welcomed the speaker and threw light upon profile of the speaker.

Dr. Kuldeep Singh delivered an illuminating thought providing lecture on health awareness, particularly relating to Gall Bladder to the staff and students. Being one of the Pioneer Laparoscopists of the region, Dr. Singh dwelt upon latest techniques of Gall Bladder surgeries including Zip Surgery, removal of Gall Stones, Removal of Gall Bladder etc. He also discussed Do’s and Don’ts of healthy life style. After elaborated presentation with slides Dr. Singh also answered the queries of various.

Talwandi Sabo, January05, 2015 (Neel Kamal Sonu): Elementary Teacher Training (ETT) students of Guru Gobind Singh College of Education, Talwandi Sabo organized Mid-Day-Meal for all the students.

Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Incharge ETT said that this activity is a part of syllabus of ETT course, is to be carried out by the student themselves. Satish Goswami, Registrar of Guru Kashi University was the chief guest on this occasion. Students prepared the lunch food under the guidance of N.S.S Programme officer, Prof. Kanwaljit Singh and later on served to the Chief Guest, staff and students.

A huge Christmas tree was adorned with gifts, bells and colorful lights. Christmas carols were sung by tiny tots who came dressed up as Santa Clause. In a cheerful manner, all of them celebrated and welcomed the coming winters. They wished for a prosperous new year.

Pupils at ABC Montessori School took part in a sports and achievement day.

Students from Classes Pre Nursery and Nursery found a platform to showcase their sporting talents in a string of events. The opening ceremony was done by the Little Cheer Leaders who cheered and boosted the spirits of the majestic montessorians with scintillating songs like Chak De India, Hum India wale and Beats of Dhol. The Combined events included Little champs, Balancing the ball, Hurdle race, Love birds, Made for each other, Umbrella race, Car race Hopping race, Bindi race, Monkey jump, Bursting the balloon, Ready for kitty party, Colour matching game, Chati race and Unity is strength.

The main objective of the event was to pay a tribute to a great and genius mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan on his birth anniversary who made commendable contributions in mathematics.

In this week an Essay Writing Competition was conducted in which students wrote thought provoking brilliant ideas exhibiting their innate talent and showcasing their knowledge and interest for mathematics. The school also organized an Inter House Maths Quiz Competition to arouse student’s interest in the logical and structural nature of Mathematics. Students of secondary wing of Jagriti, Jyoti, Kirti and Shakti House participated in the competition.

Ludhiana, December 16, 2014 (Kulwant Singh Mararr): It was a unique day filled with smiles, photos, singing and many hugs. Mothers of nursery students gathered at School hall of B.C.M Arya Model Sr. Sec. School, Shastri Nagar Ludhiana. It was also a wonderful opportunity for students to thank their mothers for their love, affection, sacrifice and for the wisdom they provide. The programme started with lamp lighting ceremony followed by short presentation on Motherhood. ‘Mom you are the best’ read a placard displayed by the students.

A lot of fun filled activities were organized on the occasion for mothers who thoroughly enjoyed themselves by participating in various competitions like Calligraphy, Best out of Waste, Cook without Fire, Flower Arrangement and Games. Proud mothers had tears of joy welling up in their eyes as the little children recited poems in their praise.

Highlights from Day 2 of the festival were Hocus Pocus The Magic Show by Rahul Kharbanda which was for all ages at Entertainment Amphi theatre. Workshops included Origami Workshop by Nalini Das, Quill Art Workshop Greeting Cards, Nagada Fun Workshop on the Indian Kettle Drums by Nathoo Lal Solanki. Children danced to Bollywood tunes with Gilles Chuyen who has been trained in France in folk, modern jazz, ballet and contemporary. Art Corner showcased Fun with Cartoons by famous illustrator and cartoonist Ajit Narayan. Puppet Making with paper and sock by puppeteer Umesh Kumar. The following stories were enacted and narrated at story Hall, Shekh Chilli ke Karname, Money Honey and Jungle Callingby Jaishree Sethi, Brave Trains and Scared Pahalwans by Big Mo. The festival ended up with Swaagat a Traditional Rajasthani Puppets by Aakaar Theatre, Story Cat’s tales by Cat Weatherill, one of Europe’s leading performance storytellers at Story Hall.
